HISTORY

AKASHI GALLERY was created by two photographers, Tina Bagué and Toru Morimoto in 2012. In 2010, The two photographers carried out The Japan Photo Project, a documentary photo project in which they traveled 42,000km across Japan by a motor home for 365 days in order to make a photography book “JAPAN/日本” (The Private Space Books, 2011). During this trip, they encountered many charming and unique cafés. Some of them were created by artists. Being inspired by them, they decided to create a Japanese dining space with a photo gallery. AKASHI is the name of a small Japanese town on the coast of Honshu, main island of Japan.

FOOD

In Akashi Gallery Barcelona, a professional Japanese sushi chef makes sushi, using only high quality seafood under a strict hygenic control. Our sushi is modern but maintains the traditional taste of sushi. Our Japanese tapas are cooked as healthy as possible without frying food. We elaborate all our own sauces including soy sauce, what makes our dishes quite original. Since Akashi Gallery Barcelona was born as a tea house in the beginning, our homemade desserts and drinks, and our selection of Japanese teas from Kyoto Ippodo are very popular.  See our menu →
